Acupuncture

Acupuncture as a treatment modality has roots in Chinese, Japanese, and French Korean medical systems, and has many different forms.  The Chinese style of Acupuncture uses more needles, with a thicker gauge, resulting in stronger stimulus.  Japanese treatments use much thinner needles, in smaller quantities, inserted to very shallow depths, which obtain the same results as the Chinese style.  The French Korean system uses mainly the microsystem found on the hands.  Included in Acupuncture treatment are modalities such as Acupressure, Moxibustion, Cupping, and Ear Seeding.  Clinic Nucleo uses all of the above theories from the diverse history of Acupuncture.

An acupuncture treatment will include a traditional Chinese medical exam which evaluates a person's tongue and pulse, as well as symptomatic nature. Japanese abdominal examination and Naturopathic nutritional evaluation are also included in formulating diagnosis.  An initial visit can be expected to last up to an hour and a half, while follow up visits are generally 45 minutes to an hour.

Cosmetic Acupuncture

Cosmetic Acupuncture uses small hair-thin needles just below the skin surface to bring circulation and vitality to the underlying structures of the face, neck, abdomen, and scalp, as well as to promote collagen production in the skin.  This provides a renewed elasticity and “plumpness”, reduces fine lines and wrinkles, and helps scars to deteriorate from the skin surface.

Abdominal cosmetic acupuncture targets the middle of the body to move stagnation and promote weight loss, in addition to tightening the skin of the abdomen.

Cosmetic Acupuncture encourages the body to heal from the inside out.  The health of the entire body can be targeted in the face, as well as the abdomen, encouraging lasting results and renewed energy.

Nutrition Counseling

Nutritional counseling is provided to all patients within the first first one or two visits to the clinic, dietary intake is very important to each persons health and well-being.  Intake of daily nutrients is analyzed to insure the patient is making the proper changes in their lifestyle to allow the desired effects of treatment to take place.

Ear Seeding

Ear seeds are an alternative to needles.  Not every patient is comfortable with needles, so seeds are used instead.  Seeds also may be retained in the patients' ears for three to five days following acupuncture, which allows for a stronger and longer lasting treatment.  Seeds are very valuable in the treatment of emotional imbalances, chemical dependency, eating disorders, and weight control.

Herbal Consultation

Herbs are another very necessary part of holistic care.  In Chinese medicine and Naturopathy, herbs and supplements are used in the place of drugs.  It is necessary to support the body nutritionally as well as energetically so that it will have optimum potential to heel itself.
